Years ago I met Julienne at a women’s small business event during CBC week and unlike most people, she actually kept my business card! All these years later, she still has the same kind spirit and fun personality. Keep reading to find out more about Julienne.

Where is your hometown and how long have you been in the DC metro area?
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia (forever I love Atlanta :)), but actually grew up here in the DC metro Area. I attended Spelman College (undergrad) and Columbia University (masters) before returning in 2010.

Are you a mother? If so, how old are your children?
I am the proud and grateful mom of Juliana (age 4) and Jackson (age 2). They are my world and I am honored to be their mother.

Are you a business owner? If so, tell us what that business is and who it serves.
I own Jeweled Events by Julienne, which is an all inclusive event planning company.  I LOVE event planning– small and large events that will help bring a smile to my clients faces. Recently, my business has expanded to collaborate with DistinctTaste, a catering company, owned by my brother, Bryan Nails. It has been an absolute honor to partner with DistinctTaste providing not only affordable food and decor, but an amazing experience working with Black businesses. We each have a high standard of excellence and want to ensure that our clients dreams are not just met, but their experience is elevated by working with us. Whether it be a baby shower, wedding, milestone birthday or a simple gathering of family and friends, it is our honor to plan, implement in collaboration with other vendors, and execute our clients dreams. So do yourself a favor and #GetJeweled for your next event 🙂

All about Self-Love

When do you feel the most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I am dressed up for a formal event– I love a beautiful gown, beat face and high heels! I think I feel most beautiful this way because being a mother of two, my body has certainly changed and it is an opportunity to appreciate the changes with a beautiful dress that adds to my beauty.

Do you have a self-care routine? If so, what is it?
Yes! I developed it over Covid and it includes working out for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. I love walking/running, but have also included jump roping into my routine and it is absolutely critical to my self care. I love being able to listen to my own music (definitely get my ratchet tunes in during this time ) and this is my time to talk to God about any and everything.  Because Fall has begun and it gets dark much earlier in the evenings, I have started waking up at 5am and getting my work outs in and it feels so good to have quality time with myself before the day has begun and everyone is up and needs something from me 🙂

What does being Fiercely Feminine mean to you?
Being Fiercely Feminine means being a woman who is confident, self-aware and is an overall #BossChick, yet still has strong morals, values and ethics. She isn’t afraid to acknowledge her fears, her doubts and her insecurities; but she tries so hard to be brave and courageous. Someone that stands up for their beliefs and does the right thing no matter the cost. She encourages, uplifts, and motivates other women to be strong, brave, courageous, kind, loyal and strong.

What is a goal you have been working on?
I recently accomplished a big goal which was to find a new job! I am excited that I will be making a career shift that is more aligned to some of my long term goals.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Let it go… it is never that serious 😉

Finish the statement – I am a woman who…
Loves, empowers, uplifts, plants seeds, and walks purposefully in my God given path.

Anything else we should know?
Thank you for this amazing opportunity. I am so honored to have been selected and I hope to represent the campaign well 🙂
